What type of people read the type of novel you are writing? Teens? Housewives? Grannies? What type of story does your target audience most enjoy?
You should understand the wants of your readers before you supply them with a storyline.
Most novels are about 75,000 to 90,000 words in the average, but family sagas and horrors may be much longer, sometimes up to 120,000 words apeice.
On the other hand, some genres would look ridiculous in two thousand word stretches. Traditional romances are usually about fifty to fifity-five thousand, while children's books hover about the 45,000-word mark.
